Josh McGuire Opens 2009 Season at East Bay; Regroups Following Winternationals

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team once again kicked off their season in the Sunshine State of Florida at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida. This year's version of the 'Winternationals' took place from February 2-7 at the track deemed as the "Clay by the Bay." The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the weeklong festivities at the Tampa area venue and as always, a strong contingent of Dirt Late Models were in the pit area.

Following a rainout on Monday, February 2, Josh McGuire competed in five straight days of dirt-slinging action. The Grayson, Kentucky driver advanced into the feature event on three different occasions and notched one top ten performance. He finished tenth in a $5,000 to win show on Wednesday, February 4. Josh also transferred into the $12,000 to win finale on Saturday evening, which was taped by the cameras of the SPEED Channel for broadcast later in the year. You can view all of Josh's finishes at East Bay below or view a race-by-race recap online at www.joshmcguireracing.com.

"It was normal East Bay for us, filled with lots of bad luck," quoted McGuire via telephone this week. "The car was fast all week, but we just couldn't put a whole night together. I feel fortunate; however, because a lot of people tore up a bunch of equipment and we were pretty lucky in that regard. I have to thank all of my great sponsors for their continued support, especially C.J. Rayburn for all of his generosity in helping us get to the racetrack."

The JMR team will next be in Dirt Late Model action on Saturday night, March 21 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the annual running of the 'Indiana Icebreaker' and a $10,000 top prize will be up for grabs. The last time Josh visited the Southern Indiana complex, he set fast time in last September's $20,000 to win 'Jackson 100.'
