Josh McGuire Caught Up in Spring 50 Carnage; Looks
for Better Fortune at Brownstown
(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team
returned to Dirt Late Model competition on Saturday night, March 17
at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The unsanctioned
'Spring 50' took place at the 1/2-mile speedplant and a $5,000 top
prize was on the line. Josh McGuire laid down the fifth fastest lap
of the 33 competitors during qualifying and later wound up fifth in
his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the seventh
row in the 50-lap main event, Josh had his sights set on a strong
run during the 36th Annual 'Spring 50.'
Unfortunately, the Grayson, Kentucky native was caught
up in a lap two pileup that involved most of the field. Josh was forced
to retire with heavy damage to the front end of his #41 machine and
wound up twenty-first in the final rundown. Complete results from
the attrition-filled night at Florence can be viewed online at www.florencespeedway.com.
"You don't often get to say that you got caught
up in the big one during a Dirt Late Model race, but we definitely
did last Saturday at Florence," quipped McGuire this week. "It
was a long night for us, that is for sure. We got into a little scrape
in the heat race and had to fix some stuff. Then in the feature, we
really had some damage after the pileup. I think we were going to
be OK, as the car seemed to be pretty fast during that first lap.
We'll just hope for some better fortune during the Indiana Icebreaker
this weekend at Brownstown!"
After the tough break at Florence, the #41 team has
worked feverishly to repair their equipment for the upcoming 'Indiana
Icebreaker' at the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again sanction the
one-day extravaganza this Saturday, March 24 and a $10,000 payday
is up for grabs. Additional information on the 50-lapper this weekend
at Brownstown can be accessed by clicking on www.brownstownspeedway.com.
