Josh McGuire to Take Weekend Off Following 'Glockner 50' at K-C
(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team invaded the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday night, April 12 for the 'Glockner 50.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the one-day show and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Josh McGuire timed in tenth quickest of the 50+ entrants during qualifying, which gave him a great starting spot for his 10-lap heat race. Josh was extremely quick during the preliminary event, as he was leading his stacked heat race before suffering an untimely flat tire on lap seven.
The Grayson, Kentucky native then started at the tail of his B-Main and had to make the top three to transfer into the $10,000 to win 'Glockner 50.' Josh was up to the task, as he finished second in the consolation event to earn the nineteenth starting spot for the A-Main. He then had his sights set on a strong run in front of the SPEED Channel cameras in the 50-lap main event, but electrical problems sidelined his #41 entry early in the race and relegated him to a twenty-first place performance. "We had some bad luck during the course of the night at K-C, but I am proud of the fact that we fought through some adversity and transferred into the main event," quoted McGuire this week. "I wish we could have finished the feature, as I think our car was going to be pretty good. We will take this upcoming weekend off to regroup a little bit and then hit things hard again next weekend."
Josh and his #41 Dirt Late Model team were planning earlier in the week to attend the $50,000 to win 'Colossal 100' at the Lowe's (NC) Motor Speedway. However, they have since changed their plans and will take the upcoming April 18-19 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition.
