Josh McGuire Seventh in IRS Race at 201; Readies for Rocky Top and K-C!

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire and his #41 Dirt Late Model team invaded the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky on Saturday evening, May 10, as the Independent Racing Series (IRS) rolled into the Commonwealth. The popular traveling series sanctioned a $5,000 to win event last Saturday night at 201. Josh won his heat race in preliminary action, which set him up nicely for a strong run in the 50-lap A-Main. The Grayson, Kentucky driver delivered, as he wheeled his #41 C.J. Rayburn / GCP Engines entry to a seventh place effort in the main event. Josh trailed only winner Eddie Carrier, Jr., Robbie Blair, R.J. Conley, Tim Dohm, Rick Aukland, and Dave Hess, Jr. to the checkers. You can view complete results from this race online at!

"We just went too hard on tires plain and simple," quoted McGuire earlier in the week. "The car was really good and we won our heat race, but just missed on tires in the feature. It was good to finish another race though and hopefully all of that bad luck from earlier this year is far behind us."

The Josh McGuire Racing team has a pair of Dirt Late Model events on their upcoming weekend schedule. Weather permitting; they will invade the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio on Friday night, May 16 for a $2,000 to win show, which will be sponsored by GCP Race Engines. The action will then turn to the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday evening, May 17 for another $2,000 to win event. You can view more information about both of these races online at and
