Josh McGuire Preps for Southern Ohio and Richmond After Rain Plagued Weekend

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) had a huge four-race extended weekend planned from July 3-6, but Mother Nature had a much different plan for the #41 team. On Wednesday night at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the annual running of the 'Budweiser 50,' which boasted a $10,000 top prize. Josh McGuire timed in tenth fastest in Group A during the qualifying session and later finished fifth in his stacked heat race. Following a B-Main triumph, Josh started the 50-lapper from the inside of the ninth row. The Grayson, Kentucky hotshoe was then able to vault up inside of the top ten before handling problems late in the race caused him to retire and finish in the fifteenth spot.

The #41 team then had plans of entering the $10,000 to win 'Independence 50' at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio and the $5,000 to win 'Hatfield & McCoy Feuding 50' at 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky. Unfortunately, heavy rains wiped out the racing action at both facilities and Josh was only able to get one race into the record book over the 4th of July holiday weekend. As long as the weather cooperates, Josh and his JMR team are looking forward to competing in two high-profile races this upcoming weekend (July 12-13). On Friday night, Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio will play host to the 3rd Annual 'Southern 50,' which pays $6,000 to the winner. Saturday's track of choice will be Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky, as the 26th edition of the 'Paul Wooldridge Butterball Memorial' will feature a $7,500 winner's check. Last year, Josh ran second behind winner Eddie Carrier, Jr. in the 'Southern 50,' while he took home the big win in the 'Butterball Memorial.'
