Josh McGuire Takes Checkers at Skyline; Eyes Rocky Top and Richmond this Weekend!
(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team reached victory lane for the third time in the 2009 racing season last Friday night, July 10 at the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio! Josh McGuire swept the evening's racing activities at the Buckeye State venue, as he laid down the quickest lap in qualifying, won his heat race, and lapped up to the sixth position in the A-Main. Josh recorded the $1,500 triumph in dominant fashion over Tim Dohm, Audie Swartz, Steve Shaver, and Ralph Withem. The win was Josh's second at Skyline this year, as he also claimed the checkers back on June 5.
The #41 team then had their sights set on the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky on Saturday evening, July 11. However, Mother Nature was the victor and the $1,200 to win weekly show was washed out. You can view complete results from Skyline on Friday by pointing your web browser to www.skylinespeedway.net.
"It was pretty typical Skyline on Friday and that slick track condition seems to suit me well," commented McGuire this week via telephone. "Our car worked very well and we were able to get a much needed victory. I was debating on taking last weekend off to work some more on a new car that we are building, but I am glad we made the trip to Skyline for sure. Hopefully, we can put together another strong weekend at Rocky Top and Richmond!"
Up next for the JMR team will be a pair of $5,000 to win shows this upcoming weekend in Ohio and Kentucky. On Friday night, July 17, the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio will play host to the unsanctioned 'Engines Inc. 50.' The Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky will then take center stage on Saturday evening, July 18, as the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirtcar Series will sanction another $5,000 to win event.
