Josh McGuire Eyes Rare Trip to Lucky 7 Following Third Place PRP Effort!

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team trekked north to the Buckeye State of Ohio over the July 29-30 weekend for a pair of Dirt Late Model showdowns. On Friday night, Josh McGuire pulled into the pit area at the newly-reopened Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio for a $2,000 to win unsanctioned event. Unfortunately, Josh experienced mechanical troubles during heat race action and he opted to load his #41 MasterSbilt for the night.

On Saturday evening, the dirt-slinging competition quickly switched to the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio for a $3,000 to win STARS MDRL Series program. Josh qualified fifth fastest in his group during time trials and later advanced to third in his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the fifth row in the 40-lap feature event, the Grayson, Kentucky native charged to the second spot, but unfortunately experienced motor problems coming out of turn four on the final circuit. He was able to limp across the finish line, but Josh was credited with a third place effort behind only winner R.J. Conley and runner-up Eddie Carrier, Jr. Full results from Saturday at PRP can be viewed online at www.portsraceway.com.

Due to the engine issues on the final lap at Portsmouth, Josh will likely be sidelined from his #41 machine for the next couple of weeks. However, the driver known as "Bad Fast" tentatively has a ride lined up for this Saturday's $5,000 to win show at the Lucky 7 Speedway in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The 2nd Annual 'Coal Miners Classic' will take place this Saturday, August 6 at Lucky 7. Josh finished a strong runner-up behind winner Greg Lucas in last year's inaugural version of the race.
