Josh McGuire Travels to Florence Following USA Nationals Weekend
(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team traveled north last weekend (July 30-August 1) to invade the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin for the first time. The action-packed weekend kicked off with a $5,000 to win World Dirt Racing League (WDRL) show on Thursday night. Josh McGuire timed in twenty-sixth fastest in WDRL qualifying and later finished third in both his competitive heat race and his B-Main. Unfortunately, those finishes were one spot out of a coveted transfer position into the 50-lap feature event.
The #41 team turned up the wick when it came to the 'USA Nationals' on Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake. Josh qualified thirty-first fastest on Friday night, but passed several cars during his heat race to earn the second transfer spot. After starting twelfth in the $50,000 to win main event on Saturday, Josh was involved in a couple of skirmishes during the 100-lapper and found himself in the twenty-first position at the pay window. Josh and his #41 squad will now focus their efforts on the upcoming 'North/South 100' at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again sanction the crown jewel event, which boasts a hefty $50,000 payday. Qualifying will be held at the Cincinnati area venue on Friday night, August 7, while heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap 'North/South 100' will headline the program on Saturday evening, August 8. The cameras of the SPEED Channel will be on hand to tape all of the wheel-to-wheel competition for broadcast later in the year.
