Josh McGuire Beats Lucas Oil Field at Portsmouth to Claim $10,000 Payday!

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team definitely had a weekend to remember on August 30-31, as Josh McGuire recorded the biggest victory of his career on Saturday night at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rolled into PRP on Saturday and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Josh set a new track record in qualifying, as he toured the 3/8-mile oval in a mere 14.244 seconds. After a convincing win in his heat race, Josh drew the outside front row starting spot for the 'Glockner River Days Rumble 75.' The Grayson, Kentucky native then drove a great race and led all but ten laps during the feature before crossing the finish line first ahead of Donnie Moran, Steve Casebolt, Dan Schlieper, and Darren Miller.

Following the exciting triumph at PRP, the dirt-slinging action quickly turned to the Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia on Sunday evening, August 31. The 40th Annual 'Hillbilly 100' was on tap at Tyler County and a $40,000 winner's check was on the line. After qualifying well in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series time trials, Josh ran third in his heat race to earn a coveted starting spot in the main event. He later rolled off from the outside of the seventh row for the 'Hillbilly 100,' but retired early from the race in the twenty-third position. "Wow, what a night last Saturday at Portsmouth was for us," exclaimed McGuire earlier in the week. "Our car was flawless all night and we were able to beat a lot of the best drivers in the country. It was special to get that first really big win in front of a lot of fans there at Portsmouth. I cut my teeth so to say at that place and I really enjoy racing there. I have to thank all of my family, crew, sponsors, and just everybody that supports myself and the race team. Hopefully, there are several more wins like that around the corner!"

The #41 team now has their sights solely focused on the upcoming 'World 100' at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Qualifying for the "Granddaddy of Them All" will take place on Friday night, September 5. The heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap, $41,000 to win main event are all scheduled for Saturday evening at the "Big E."
